Mr Plod

Mr Plod is a British and Australian informal term — sometimes affectionate, sometimes dismissive — for a police officer, drawn from the character PC Plod in Enid Blyton's Noddy books. The name evokes slow, methodical, not-very-bright law enforcement: someone who plods rather than sprints. It can be used to gently mock the perceived slowness or bureaucratic approach of the police. The register is familiar and slightly irreverent; not as aggressive as 'pig' but not entirely respectful either.
