Blue Cheer is a vintage slang name for a particular batch or brand of LSD that circulated primarily in 1960s and 1970s counterculture. Named for its distinctive blue-coloured tablets, Blue Cheer became almost mythical among psychedelic users of the era for its reportedly intense potency. The name was also famously adopted by the heavy metal band Blue Cheer, whose crushing volume was said to match the drug's mind-expanding reputation.
Old heads at the festival swore the Blue Cheer going around in '69 was unlike anything before or since.
