A call-out or self-assessment determining whether someone is playing intentionally badly in a game — deliberately dying, feeding kills, or throwing objectives on purpose. Dropping an int check on a teammate is equal parts accusation and interrogation: are you actually this bad or is something deliberate happening here? The check invites either a confession, a defensive explanation, or a meltdown in chat. A staple of competitive gaming communication, it has migrated into everyday discourse to question whether someone's terrible decision-making is wilful or just genuinely catastrophic.
A social call-out asking someone to gauge or acknowledge their current level of aggression or irritability. Dropping an aggy check on someone is a way of saying 'you're coming in hot — are you aware of that?' It functions as a reality test in arguments, group chats, or anywhere tension is climbing. Sometimes asked with genuine concern, sometimes deployed as shade. Either way, it puts the aggressor on notice that the vibe has been clocked and their behavior is now officially on the record.
A tank check is when you assess how well someone — or something — is absorbing punishment and still standing. Borrowed from gaming, where tanking means taking damage so teammates don't have to, a tank check in real-life slang is a reckoning: how much can this person, team, or situation take before it buckles? You might call for a tank check on a friend going through a rough stretch, or on a project that's been hit from every angle and somehow keeps going. Part admiration, part triage.
