The hard, brightly coloured seed of Thevetia peruviana (yellow oleander), widely carried as a good-luck charm across the Caribbean and parts of Africa despite being highly toxic if ingested. The name is ironic: the same seed that brings luck can cause fatal cardiac arrest.
