luvviness

British slang for the world of actors, performers, and theatrical types — specifically the self-congratulatory, emotionally expressive, professionally dramatic milieu of the entertainment industry. A 'luvvie' is an actor prone to theatrical air-kissing, over-emoting, and using 'darling' as a universal address, and 'luvviedom' is the collective kingdom they inhabit. The term is used with affectionate mockery by British journalists and commentators to describe the liberal, award-ceremony-attending, politically opinionated acting establishment.
