A US government and military classification term standing for No Distribution — applied to especially sensitive documents restricted beyond standard classification levels. NODIS material is limited to a very small distribution list and cannot be shared through normal classified channels. The designation appears in diplomatic cables and intelligence documents, and became more widely known when WikiLeaks published NODIS-marked State Department cables in 2010.
