An Indian legal and agricultural term for a leaseholder or registered holder of a land parcel — a person whose name appears on a patta (a land title document or lease). 'Pattadar' is used in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana land records and legal contexts. The pattadar is the recognized tenant or owner-cultivator for purposes of land revenue and legal rights. An important term in South Indian land tenure administration.
The pattadar had to produce documentation before the revenue officer would process the request.
