From Indian mythology, a pisachee (or pisachi) is a female demon or malevolent spirit — the feminine form of pishacha. In Hindu and Buddhist traditions, pishachas are flesh-eating demons associated with cemeteries and madness. The word sometimes appears in everyday South Asian speech as a dramatic label for a frighteningly wicked or uncontrollable woman.
In the old story, the traveler was warned to avoid the forest where the pisachee was said to roam at night.
