A cartoon hand waving palm-out. Means hello, goodbye, "hi", "bye", or — in dating-app contexts — the awkward opener you send when you have nothing else to say. Reads friendly and casual. The dating-app "👋" opener is widely mocked as low-effort — it signals you couldn't think of anything to say. Outside dating apps it's a universal greeting.

Two cartoon hands raised in celebration, with motion lines suggesting movement. Means celebration, praise, "hallelujah", "yes!", or sincere agreement. Pairs well with 🎉 and 🙏 in celebration messages. Reads more enthusiastic than 👏 (clapping) and more workplace-safe than ✨ (sparkles). Common in church / gospel content as well as secular celebration.

Two cartoon hands cupped together palm-up, as if receiving or offering something. Means prayer (in Muslim contexts especially — the "dua" gesture), receiving a gift, "please give me", or supplication. Less commonly used than 🙏 but distinct in meaning — 🤲 is specifically open-handed receiving, not pressed-together prayer. Common in Islamic content and gratitude posts.

A cartoon hand making the V peace sign with index and middle fingers. Means peace, "deuces", "goodbye", "I'm out". Also used in selfies (the universal 2010s tourist pose), peace-activism content, and casual sign-offs. Reads casual / friendly; the peace-activism meaning still works in protest contexts.

A cartoon hand with thumb and pinky extended — the universal "call me" gesture (thumb to ear, pinky to mouth, mimicking a phone). Means "call me", "let's talk", "we'll figure it out later". Also used as a Hawaiian / surfer "shaka" greeting meaning "hang loose" or "all good". Both reads coexist; surrounding context decides which one applies.
