Suicide club is an informal term for a suicide squad — a unit or group assigned to an extremely dangerous mission where survival is considered unlikely. Used in military, historical, and fictional contexts, it describes a small team sent on high-risk operations that other units would refuse: deep behind enemy lines, into heavily fortified positions, or on assignments where the odds are brutal. The term carries a grim, fatalistic tone. It also inspired a famous 1882 Robert Louis Stevenson story collection about a secret society whose members are resigned to die. The term should not be confused with support communities related to suicide prevention.
The generals called it a special unit, but everyone in the battalion knew it was basically a suicide club with a fancy name.
