That's an own goal by you. What did I write? What words did I use? What happens if a football player goes up to the ref and verbally tells them to book another player?

[NBC] PARENT ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY KICKING YOUTH FOOTBALL PLAYER
A 15-year-old Ville Platte High School football player was killed in a shooting in the city, the Ville Platte Police Department confirmed. Ville Platte High School identified the victim as Javion Semien.
I think we just have different lines that shouldn’t be crossed. For instance, I wouldn’t allow a football player to keep playing even if he was very good after he hit his wife. I think senators are more important.

(American football, US) One who plays American football.
"football player" means: One who plays American football.. This is a fairly neutral word with no inherent risk attached. There is no real cause for parental concern; it is descriptive vocabulary rather than something dangerous. If your child uses it, context will usually make the meaning clear. A brief, curious question about where they heard it is generally enough to know whether to follow up.
"football player" means: One who plays American football.. Register: neutral, standard English, usable in most everyday contexts. Note the regional or dialect label (American) — usage may sound odd outside that variety. A common non-native mistake is to use the word in the wrong register, or to assume one fixed meaning when it is actually polysemous; always check the surrounding register and the audience before producing it yourself. In formal writing, prefer a neutral synonym or a short descriptive phrase, and use this word only when you have heard or read it being used naturally in a comparable context.
