Bloodwood refers to several species of trees — found mainly in Australia, Africa, and the Americas — that produce distinctive red sap or have deep reddish timber. Australian bloodwoods are eucalyptus relatives with rough bark and timber that bleeds a dark red resin when cut. The wood is prized for its striking color and durability, used in furniture, flooring, and decorative work. The name is vivid for good reason: cut into one and it really does look like it's bleeding.
