Australian term for the narrow worn track or path that cattle create by repeatedly walking the same route across paddocks, between water sources, or toward feeding spots. These trails are deeply worn into the landscape over time and serve as informal navigational guides in the bush — experienced stockmen and hikers use them as shortcuts or to find water. A cattle pad is usually single-file width, beaten hard by hooves, and can run for surprisingly long distances across the outback.
