A type of small, lightweight wooden boat used on the Dal Lake and other bodies of water in Kashmir, India. Shikaras are used for transport, fishing, and especially for ferrying tourists around the famous houseboats of Srinagar. The word is strongly associated with Kashmiri tourism culture.
