Something is 'age-coded' if it strongly signals a particular generation — for example, certain slang words, fashions, emojis or references that mark someone as Millennial, Gen Z or Gen Alpha. If your teen says 'using the laughing-crying emoji is so age-coded', they mean it identifies the user as over 30. Useful vocabulary for thinking about generational identity. Harmless and observational.
