Agentic mode is the mental and behavioral state of taking full autonomous ownership — you're not waiting for instructions, approvals, or external direction, you're identifying what needs to happen and making it happen. Borrowed from AI terminology where an agentic system plans and executes tasks without constant human input, the human slang version describes someone operating on full internal drive: self-tasking, self-correcting, self-motivating. Agentic mode is the opposite of passive execution. You don't need a manager, a prompt, or a deadline — you just run.

Hyper agentic pushes autonomous self-direction beyond the normal register into something that starts to feel uncontrollable or unmanageable — a level of independent initiative so intense that it creates its own gravitational field. Where peak agentic is impressive, hyper agentic tips into slightly alarming: the person or system is taking on so much unprompted initiative that keeping up with them becomes the challenge. In AI contexts, hyper agentic describes systems with broad tool access and minimal constraints. In human slang, it's the person who solved the problem you hadn't mentioned yet.

Sus agentic describes autonomous behavior that raises eyebrows — independent action that technically counts as initiative but feels off, unexplained, or potentially self-serving. In AI discourse this captures real anxiety: when a system starts acting on its own in ways that seem too convenient or that nobody explicitly sanctioned. In human slang, sus agentic is the coworker who takes ownership of things nobody asked them to own, in ways that always seem to benefit them specifically. The autonomy is real, but the motivation behind it doesn't fully add up.

Mid agentic describes someone or something that shows up with autonomous initiative but only halfway — they take ownership of tasks unprompted, but the execution stalls before the finish line. The initiative is there, the follow-through isn't. A mid agentic AI tool starts workflows on its own but requires constant correction. A mid agentic coworker identifies problems without being asked but never quite closes the loop. It's the disappointment of watching promising autonomous energy fizzle into incomplete action: agentic enough to raise expectations, mid enough to not meet them.
