(historical, US) A war, considered the North American theatre of the Seven Years' War outside of the United States, which involved France, Great Britain and their respective Indigenous/Native American allies, which occured between 1754 and 1763, and led to the conquest of New France and its cession to Britain and Spain.

Origin: Named after the Kingdom of France and their Native American (Indian) allies, primary enemies of the British during the war, though Native Americans fought on both sides. Originally intended to be named "King George's War" after George II of England, following practice in American historiography to name wars in British America after the ruling monarch of the time, but was already used for an earlier war, considered part of the War of the Austrian Succession in British and European historiography.
