"Good game." Typed in chat at the end of a match — politely, or sarcastically after a blowout. "GG EZ" = good game, easy (an all-time taunt).
An unspoken GG is the silent mutual acknowledgment between players that a match was genuinely good, fair, and hard-fought — even when nobody actually types it. Sometimes the scoreboard says everything. Sometimes both sides are so respected that the gesture feels redundant. The unspoken GG exists in the pause before everyone queues up again, in the lack of flaming, in the absence of excuses. In high-level play it's actually more meaningful than a typed GG because it can't be faked, can't be passive-aggressive, and requires no performance whatsoever.
"Good game, easy." Legendary post-match taunt typed after a stomp. So iconic Blizzard banned the phrase in Overwatch and added an auto-reply "thanks for the great game!" to dilute it. Players found workarounds within hours. The phrase and the ban both live on.
A mid GG is a good game callout delivered without conviction — technically present, emotionally absent. Nobody can accuse you of being unsportsmanlike because you said it, but nobody believes you actually meant it either. The mid GG is what you type when the game was neither impressive enough to praise nor awful enough to complain about, or when you're too exhausted to process anything beyond autopilot courtesy. It's fine. The game was fine. Everything is fine. The mid GG acknowledges that some matches just happen and life goes on.
