When someone attempts to bite another person's style, sound, or aesthetic and executes it badly — the original is recognisable, the copy is worse, and the whole thing makes the biter look worse than if they'd just stayed original. A bite fail is uniquely embarrassing because it requires both the audacity to copy and the incompetence to do it poorly.
