A cap arc is when someone goes on an extended streak of lying, fabricating, and embellishing — a narrative phase where every interaction seems to add another layer of fiction on top of the last. Unlike a one-off cap, a cap arc has structure: it builds, escalates, and eventually collapses under its own weight when someone pulls the thread. The term borrows from storytelling vocabulary to describe the tragicomedy of watching someone spiral deeper into their own constructed reality, dragging their online reputation with them.
His whole cap arc finally ended when someone found the original video that proved none of it happened.

Register: very informal, internet slang. Suitable only for casual conversation, chat and social media. Do not use in business, academic or news writing. A common learner mistake is using the word in a register it does not fit, or assuming a single global meaning; native speakers immediately notice when slang appears in formal contexts, so always check the surrounding register before producing it yourself.

- l arc73%
The extended narrative trajectory of someone going through a prolonged loss streak — a story with a beginning, escalating failures, and hopefully a redemption end point that friends are still waiting to see. An L arc isn't a single bad day; it's a multi-week or multi-month saga of compounding setbacks that the people around you have started mentally charcing as chapters. The arc framing implies potential for growth, which is the internet's way of being almost kind about watching someone's situation get worse before it gets better.
- int arc73%
The story arc of a player — or occasionally a streamer or pro — during which their gameplay deteriorates so badly, so publicly, and so consistently that observers begin narrating it as a character development. The int arc is watched with fascination: each death builds the lore, each terrible decision adds a chapter. The arc framing implies it has a beginning, a chaotic middle, and an eventual resolution — usually either a ban, a public breakdown, or an unexpected comeback that redeems the whole thing cinematically.
- yap arc71%
A recognizable phase in someone's personal or online narrative where they suddenly become extremely vocal, opinionated, or chatty — often after a period of quiet. The yap arc is discussed like a character development moment: something unlocked, something shifted, and now this person will not stop talking. It can follow a breakup, a personal revelation, a new friend group, or simply discovering Twitter. Fans of the person watch the yap arc unfold with a mix of support and mild concern.
- craic arc71%
The narrative journey of a particularly legendary night or session — beginning with low expectations, building through increasingly ridiculous escalations, and culminating in a story that will be retold for years. Every craic arc has a turning point (usually around the third venue) where the night stops being normal and starts being a thing. The craic arc is only identified in retrospect, often around 3am while someone is trying to explain what happened to a taxi driver.
- catfish arc70%
A catfish arc is the narrative trajectory of a catfishing situation — from the initial deception through growing suspicion, confrontation, and eventual reveal. Borrowed from storytelling terminology, it frames the whole catfish experience as a plot with stages: the honeymoon phase where everything seems real, the red-flag accumulation, the reverse image search moment, and the dramatic unmasking. Used on social media to recap either personal experiences or viral catfish stories. Also used preemptively: 'this situation is giving catfish arc' signals someone clocking deception before it fully plays out.
