Definitions
The headspace a viewer enters when they're actively deciding to donate — or the altered vibe a stream takes on when donations are flying. Dono mode on the viewer side means wallet open, sentiment high, possibly emotionally invested in a hype moment or charity event. On the stream side, dono mode describes a period of accelerated generosity where alerts are stacking so fast the streamer can barely keep up. It's a temporary but electric state that both performers and community feel simultaneously.
Chat went into full dono mode after he said he'd shave his head at fifty subs.

- donoer78%
Someone who donates to streamers, particularly one who does so regularly or enthusiastically. Donoer is the casual agent-noun form of 'dono,' applied to the person behind the transaction rather than the transaction itself. It carries a slightly affectionate, slightly parasocial connotation — the donoer is part of a streamer's support ecosystem, a financial regular rather than a lurker. The word is informal and unstandardised, living almost entirely in Twitch and Discord culture.
- dono78%
Dono is an informal shortening of 'donation,' the kind of casual abbreviation that thrives in online communities, streaming platforms, and charity contexts. On Twitch and similar platforms, viewers drop donos to their favorite streamers; in activist circles, people talk about dropping a dono to a cause. It carries a breezy, digital-native energy that makes giving money feel less formal and more like a casual act of support between friends.
- w dono77%
A donation that lands perfectly — the amount is generous, the message is funny or heartfelt, the timing is impeccable, and everyone in chat agrees it was a win. W dono is the successful execution of streaming generosity as content: it made the streamer smile, chat react, and possibly generated a clip. In donation culture, a W dono is the goal — not just money transferred but a genuine moment created. Borrows 'W' (win, success) from gaming and sports discourse.
- dono check76%
The act of scanning a streamer's recent donation alerts to gauge community generosity, hype level, or to see who the big spenders are. Dono check is live-stream culture's version of checking the scoreboard — a quick audit of who's showing love and how much. Viewers do it to feel the room before dropping their own donation; streamers do it to track momentum mid-stream. The check can be celebratory ('the donos are popping off') or sobering ('dead stream, dono check confirms it').
- dono coded76%
Describing someone whose personality, behaviour, or presence in a streaming community signals that they are the type to donate — generous, emotionally invested, quick to hype up the streamer, and prone to impulse-supporting creators they like. Dono coded doesn't mean rich; it means wired for giving within parasocial stream culture. The term borrows '-coded' (internet suffix meaning 'characteristic of' or 'clearly belonging to a type') to profile a recognisable community archetype.
