Ends mode is when you stop performing for outsiders and just exist in the comfort of your own turf. It's hoodie-on, corner-shop energy, running into people you've known your whole life, no pretense. The opposite of trying to impress anyone.

A casual check-in directed at someone you address as cuz — a term of familiar address used widely in Black American slang and spread through hip-hop culture. Dropping a cuz check is the conversational equivalent of a well-being ping: you are establishing contact, seeing what is good, and affirming the relationship with the address itself. The cuz check can be a text, a DM, or a shoutout — what matters is the warmth baked into the acknowledgment. It signals genuine closeness rather than transactional communication.

A quick audit of whether someone is actually present and reciprocating in a conversation, relationship, or online interaction — or just going through the motions. An engage check can be a literal social-media analytics glance (are people responding?) or a more personal call-out when someone hasn't been showing up emotionally. In group chats it often appears as a direct challenge to people who've gone quiet. Part accountability tool, part vibe assessment, part gentle confrontation.
