The practice of maximally restricting oneself or others — piling on rules, content filters, disclaimers, and safety protocols until the original point is barely visible under the mountain of caveats. Guardrails-maxxing can refer to AI systems locked down to the point of uselessness, corporate communications so liability-hedged they say nothing, or someone in a relationship who's set so many boundaries that actual connection is impossible. It started as tech commentary but became a broader critique of over-cautious, over-moderated communication.
