Definitions
The grayscale face of former Justin.tv employee Josh DeSeno, Kappa is Twitch's oldest and most-used emote, posted at the end of a sentence to mark sarcasm, irony, or a troll. If a streamer says something obviously absurd and chat fills with Kappas, they're calling it a bit. Kappa has effectively become the Twitch equivalent of /s on Reddit. Misreading a Kappa as sincere is a classic newbie mistake.

- KEKW64%
A Twitch BTTV emote of late Spanish comedian Juan Joya Borja ('El Risitas') in fits of laughter, used to react to something genuinely hilarious. 'Kek' is gamer-slang for 'lol' (originally from World of Warcraft cross-faction chat) and 'W' is the laughing-face suffix style used by emote artists. KEKW typically gets spammed in rows when a streamer fails spectacularly or chat lands a great joke. It is one of the most-used emotes on Twitch globally.
- feelstheaura63%

- sonion61%
Twitch-derived emote spelling reacting to onion-level layered drama or tear-jerking moments.
- Kreygasm60%
A native Twitch global emote of streamer KreyG mid-ecstatic face, used to express 'oh my god yes'. Posted as a reaction to anything chat finds satisfying: a beautiful play, a great-looking dish on a cooking stream, a clean visual moment. Sometimes paired ironically with non-sexual content for comedic mismatch.
- PogChamp60%
The foundational Twitch hype emote, a still of Ryan 'Gootecks' Gutierrez looking shocked, used since 2012 to react to clutch moments. PogChamp became so synonymous with Twitch culture that 'Pog' and 'Poggers' both derive from it. The original emote was removed in January 2021 after Gutierrez's comments about the US Capitol riot; Twitch then rotated through a series of community 'KomodoHype'-style PogChamps. The word PogChamp still survives in chat as a generic synonym for 'huge moment'.
