When someone goes into kuya mode, they temporarily suspend their peer-level chill and flip into guardian energy. It can be triggered by someone they care about being in a vulnerable situation, a sketchy stranger appearing, or just the instinct that the group needs someone to be responsible right now. Kuya mode is usually appreciated in the moment but can become an issue if it never turns off.
