Definitions
A pairing so popular, so thoroughly dominant in fandom discourse that it eclipses almost every other ship in its space. A mega ship is not just your personal favorite — it is a cultural event. The fan fiction count is in the tens of thousands. The fan art has subgenres. There are wiki pages and dedicated Discord servers and people who have been in the fandom for over a decade and still have not exhausted the content. Mega ships define fandoms, attract new fans, and occasionally outlive the original source material by years because the community simply refuses to stop creating.
That pairing became an absolute mega ship almost overnight — the tag hit a hundred thousand posts within a week of that episode airing.

- hyper ship75%
Shipping a pairing with a level of intensity that goes well past casual fandom appreciation and into something that might require an intervention. A hyper shipper is not just invested — they are deep in the archives, they have read every fan theory, they have a playlist for the pairing, and they may have spent real money on fan merchandise. Hyper shipping the wrong pairing in the wrong fandom can be socially exhausting because the output is relentless. But hyper shipping the right one in a supportive community? That is just being extremely normal about something you love.
- ship god73%
The most devoted, most knowledgeable, most prolific shipper in a fandom — someone who has written the fan fiction, curated the fan art, tracked every interaction, and can cite episode timestamps from memory to defend their pairing. A ship god is not just a fan; they are a lore keeper and a propagandist simultaneously. They have probably made the gifset that converted people. They have arguments prepared for every counterpoint. When the ship god speaks, the fandom listens, because they have clearly sacrificed sleep and social obligations on the altar of this pairing.
- peak ship73%
The moment a ship hits its highest point — the episode, the interaction, the press moment, or the fan content that represents everything the pairing could possibly be. Peak ship is what fans are waiting for through all the buildup, the near-misses, and the longing glances. When peak ship happens, the fandom briefly loses its collective mind. Gifsets flood the timeline. The fan fiction writers emerge from hiding with update notifications. It might be a first kiss, a confession, a devastating callback to season one, or a real-life moment that the internet decides is The Moment. Peak ship does not last forever, but it is glorious.
- ship mode72%
The state of being fully locked in on a romantic pairing — every interaction between two people is being analyzed through the lens of the ship, every ambiguous moment is evidence, and the imagination is running a full production of the relationship you are convinced should happen. Ship mode is not passive fandom appreciation; it is active, obsessive, possibly unhinged in the best way. Once you enter ship mode, neutral viewing is over. You are watching for the moments, not the plot. Your notes app contains a timeline of significant glances.
- ship71%
In fandom: to support a romantic pairing between two characters. "I ship X and Y" = "I want them to be together."
