- Mods asleep73%
A staple Twitch chat phrase posted whenever moderators are AFK and chat takes the opportunity to break a rule or post forbidden memes. Almost always followed by mass-posting of whatever the chat isn't usually allowed to do (a banned emote, a horny copypasta, raid taunts). Self-defeating: posting 'mods asleep' is itself a flag that wakes up mods.
- Mod mail68%
A Discord bot pattern that lets members DM a bot and have the bot relay messages to the moderation team in a private channel. Solves the problem of mods' DMs being closed or members not knowing who to contact privately. Most mid-to-large servers run ModMail bots; it's a quasi-standard infrastructure for community management.
- banninate check67%
A quick scan of a server or community to see who's been recently banned or is about to get the boot. Mods or power users do a banninate check when drama spikes and they want to confirm the scorched-earth cleanup is done.
- afk check64%
An AFK check is a quick callout — in games, group chats, or Discord servers — used to verify whether someone is actually present or has quietly ghosted the room. One player pings the team, types their name, or calls out in voice chat to see if anyone responds. If the suspected AFK doesn't reply within a few seconds, they're confirmed absent and may face consequences like being kicked, benched, or mercilessly roasted. Outside of gaming, friends use it as a casual poke to confirm the group chat is still alive.
- mood check64%
A mood check is a quick emotional temperature-reading — either asking someone how they're feeling or doing a quick self-assessment of your own mental state. Online it's often posted as an invitation to share: drop your mood check in the comments, rate yourself 1–10, or pick an emoji. It can be playful or sincere, a community bonding ritual or a low-key wellness prompt. Mood checks are common on TikTok, Discord servers, and group chats as a way to open space for people to express how they're actually doing without making it heavy.
