An abbreviation used in Chinese mainland contexts for Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia — an early official name for what became known as COVID-19. The term NCP was used by Chinese health authorities and media in the early weeks of the 2020 outbreak before the WHO named the disease. Now largely replaced by COVID-19 in international usage.
In early January the hospital had already admitted several patients with what they were calling NCP.
