Definitions
The foundational Twitch hype emote, a still of Ryan 'Gootecks' Gutierrez looking shocked, used since 2012 to react to clutch moments. PogChamp became so synonymous with Twitch culture that 'Pog' and 'Poggers' both derive from it. The original emote was removed in January 2021 after Gutierrez's comments about the US Capitol riot; Twitch then rotated through a series of community 'KomodoHype'-style PogChamps. The word PogChamp still survives in chat as a generic synonym for 'huge moment'.

- POG87%
A Twitch emote and expression of excitement, originally short for "PogChamp" — the face of streamer Ryan "Gootecks" Gutierrez pulling a surprised expression. Now used as a standalone word in chat ("pog", "poggers", "pogchamp") whenever something hype happens — a clutch play, a big donation, a returning streamer.
- POG84%
A reaction expressing excitement, hype, or amazement at something impressive happening on stream. Short for 'PogChamp', the original Twitch emote of streamer Ryan 'Gootecks' Gutierrez pulling a stunned face. 'Pog' is typed when an emote isn't available or as a generic verbal/text reaction. It has fully crossed over from Twitch into Discord, Reddit gaming subs, and general Gen Z speech to mean 'awesome / cool / let's go'. Often spammed ('POG POG POG') or stretched ('POOOOG') when a clutch play happens.
- PauseChamp75%
A variation of the PogChamp emote on Twitch.
- poggers71%
An exclamation of excitement, hype, or awe — "POGGERS!" dropped after a clutch play or a genuinely surprising moment. Originated in Twitch chat, leaked into every gaming community, and by 2021 was ironically applied to the most mundane successes ("boiled an egg — poggers").
- PauseChamp70%
An animated emote of the original PogChamp face frozen mid-shock, suspended in anticipation. Posted during a tense buildup moment — right before a big reveal, a clutch attempt, a key fight, or a major announcement. The whole point is the pause: chat is collectively holding its breath.
