It's the gut feeling that something isn't right, embodied as a social field you can sense. Where sus describes a verdict, sus energy is the pre-verdict atmosphere — the raised hairs on the back of your neck translated into slang. Someone can give off sus energy without having done anything provably wrong; the vibe itself is the red flag.
