A sweat arc is the character journey a player goes through as they descend into — and sometimes back out of — full tryhard mode. It tracks the progression: the casual player who gets beaten one too many times, starts grinding, loses sleep, optimises their setup, becomes unrecognisable to their friends, and eventually either finds peace or burns out entirely. Told in retrospect, a sweat arc is usually funny. Living through someone else's sweat arc in real time is much less so.
