Suffix that maps someone or something to a pop-cultural reference: "Taylor-coded," "villain-coded," "1999-coded." Shorthand for "reads as." The suffix has become more productive than any actual word in 2024–2025; it can be appended to virtually anything to communicate a vibe.

Describes a person, vibe, outfit, or situation that radiates that sweet-and-spicy contradiction — approachable and warm on the surface, but with an unexpected kick underneath. Being swicy coded means you attract people with your sweetness and then surprise them with your heat. It's a genuine personality archetype: the person at the party who seems totally low-key until you cross them, or the dish that looks mild but ends with a slow burn. Complimentary, with a slight caveat.

Something is coquette coded when it radiates soft, flirty, delicately feminine energy without explicitly labeling itself as such — a movie scene drenched in gauzy light and whispered dialogue, a café with lace curtains and pink macarons, a person who speaks just quietly enough that others lean in. The coded part is key: it doesn't announce itself; it simply IS the vibe. Interior design can be coquette coded. A perfume bottle can be coquette coded.
