A stan arc is the personal narrative someone goes through as a fan — from the first accidental exposure to a song or clip, through the obsessive deep-dive, the merch purchases, the stan account creation, maybe a phase of burnout, and sometimes the quiet exit. It's the full story of how someone's relationship with a celebrity or piece of media evolves over time. People discuss their stan arcs fondly, cringe at them retrospectively, or use them to bond with fellow fans who went through the exact same spiral.

The character progression — usually in a TV show, movie, or real-life situation — where someone transitions from relatively cool or relevant into full unc territory. The unc arc can be gradual (slowly wearing cargo shorts, discovering Facebook reels) or dramatic (one cringe moment that ends their cultural credibility forever). TikTok creators especially use it to narrate their own slide into domesticated, low-key out-of-touch adulthood.

The story arc of a player — or occasionally a streamer or pro — during which their gameplay deteriorates so badly, so publicly, and so consistently that observers begin narrating it as a character development.
