AFK szn is a tongue-in-cheek label for a stretch of time when someone — or an entire friend group — collectively disappears from online spaces. It might be summer break when everyone's traveling, finals week when no one has time to game, or the post-holiday slump when people hibernate. Declaring AFK szn acknowledges that the whole crew is checked out without any hard feelings. It's a nostalgic, almost seasonal vibe — the internet equivalent of 'see you on the other side.'
Group chat goes silent every August — it's just afk szn, everyone's traveling.

- brb szn75%
BRB szn is a tongue-in-cheek way of declaring a personal hibernation period — the stretch of time when someone withdraws from social life, cuts down on posting, and generally becomes hard to reach. It's the seasonal equivalent of going offline: maybe it's exam time, a situationship fallout, a glow-up era, or just a need for genuine quiet. Using 'szn' (season) frames the disappearance as a scheduled and intentional phase rather than a random ghosting. It's self-aware enough to announce the retreat before going dark.
- afk mode73%
AFK mode is the state of being mentally or physically checked out — not just away from a screen, but fully off the grid by choice. Entering AFK mode means you're done with obligations, notifications, and social expectations for a set period. People announce AFK mode before a long nap, a no-phone weekend, a focus sprint, or a much-needed break from drama. It's the polite (and kind of funny) way to say you're deliberately going unreachable, and anyone who interrupts AFK mode better have a good reason.
- action szn72%
A designated stretch of time — real or declared — when the vibe shifts from planning to moving. Action szn is less about a calendar date and more about a collective energy reset: summer hits, a new year starts, a personal L gets processed, and suddenly everyone around you is doing things. Action szn gets announced on timelines as both motivation and prophecy. You're not just saying it's time to act — you're saying this period will be defined by action, and you're putting that on record.
- ghosting szn71%
Ghosting szn is the semi-ironic recognition that mass ghosting spikes during certain stretches of the year — post-holiday emotional detox, summer situationship cleanup, or the dreaded cuffing season exit. People use it to collectively acknowledge a wave of unreturned texts hitting the timeline all at once, turning individual abandonment into a cultural weather event. When ghosting szn hits, no one is surprised when their DMs go cold; it's just the vibe of the moment, as predictable as pumpkin spice or tax-season dread.
- lurker szn71%
A period — usually winter, post-drama, or post-breakup — when someone fully retreats into silent online observation and abandons any pretense of being an active poster. Lurker szn is declared, not arrived at accidentally. You post the announcement, then go completely quiet. It's a season of watchers, when your feed grows but your engagement flatlines. Some enter lurker szn for mental health, others from burnout, and a few just because the timeline has become too chaotic to safely participate in without getting scorched.
