The headspace you enter when an obsessive, irrational, or algorithmic idea has fully taken over your cognition and you're operating entirely from within its logic. Someone in brainworm mode is not reasoning — they're spiraling, citing their five most-watched creators as gospel, and arguing points they'd never have held two months ago. It's characterized by an inability to steelman the opposing view, a compulsion to keep engaging with content that feeds the fixation, and a defensive hostility toward anyone who tries to snap them out of it.

A brainrot arc is the narrative descent — tracked by followers, friends, or the algorithm itself — of a person going from normal human to fully internet-corrupted content creature. Like a character arc in a show, it has a beginning (first weird post), escalation (increasing chaos), and a peak (complete detachment from normal discourse). Brainrot arcs are documented in real time on social media, often celebrated as lore. Sometimes people reverse course; more often they don't.

Fully converted to, and cognitively restructured by, a particular brainworm — meaning an obsessive idea or ideological framework absorbed through relentless content consumption. Being brainworm pilled implies you've passed a point of no return: the idea isn't just something you think about, it's the lens through which you now interpret everything. Unlike simply having a brainworm, being brainworm pilled suggests a completed transformation — you've been changed, and people around you have noticed.

The most extreme, perfectly distilled, or unintentionally hilarious manifestation of a particular ideological fixation — the take or behavior that so completely embodies a brainworm that it becomes the definitive example other people point to. Peak brainworm is often identified in hindsight, when someone's obsessive conviction leads them to a conclusion so outlandish that even fellow believers have to pause. It's become a benchmark: when you want to explain a specific rabbit hole to an outsider, you find the peak brainworm moment and play it for them.

A person, account, content creator, or media outlet whose primary function — whether intentional or not — is to implant obsessive, irrational, or radicalizing ideas into other people's heads. A brainwormer operates through repetition, emotional provocation, and algorithmic exploitation, flooding their audience with takes so consistently extreme or absurd that followers gradually normalize them. The term carries judgment: being called a brainwormer means you are actively spreading infectious bad thinking, not just holding unusual views.
