glazing energy

The specific aura someone gives off when they are deeply, uncritically in love with a public figure — the way they cannot hear any criticism, the way every conversation returns to one person, the quiet but absolute conviction that their fave can do no wrong. Glazed energy is felt before it is named. Once you see it you cannot unsee it.

Describes a person, post, or account that radiates glazing energy — so steeped in praise and devotion that you can smell the bias before you even read the full take. Glazing coded doesn't require someone to be actively glazing; it's about the pattern, the history, the way every single opinion they hold just happens to be favorable to one specific person or project. Once you see it, it's impossible to unsee.

Excessively praising or kissing up to someone. In Gen Z usage it's the social register; in tech it also describes overly sycophantic AI models. "Stop glazing him — he literally just passed a midterm." OpenAI famously rolled back a GPT-4o update in April 2025 for being too glazing.

The mental state you enter when all critical thinking shuts off and every interaction with your fave becomes an opportunity to sing their praises. In glazing mode, every project is a masterpiece, every mistake is actually genius in disguise, and anyone with a criticism becomes a hater by definition. It can last days, weeks, or span an entire fandom era. Getting snapped out of glazing mode by an undeniably bad drop is a humbling experience people rarely admit to publicly.

A call-out moment where someone pauses to assess whether what they're doing or saying constitutes glazing — excessive, unearned praise that crosses from genuine fandom into embarrassing sycophancy. A glazing check can be self-imposed ('wait, am I glazing right now?') or issued by a friend who's watched you go too far defending a celebrity or creator. It's the reality check that stops the glazing spiral before it gets worse.
