A period — usually winter, post-drama, or post-breakup — when someone fully retreats into silent online observation and abandons any pretense of being an active poster. Lurker szn is declared, not arrived at accidentally. You post the announcement, then go completely quiet. It's a season of watchers, when your feed grows but your engagement flatlines. Some enter lurker szn for mental health, others from burnout, and a few just because the timeline has become too chaotic to safely participate in without getting scorched.

Not just a lurker — a lurker on overdrive. The hyper lurker doesn't passively scroll; they actively, obsessively monitor. Multiple tabs, push notifications on for specific accounts, checking back on threads for updates. Hyper lurking looks passive from the outside but internally it's an anxious, intensive surveillance operation. They never post, but they never stop watching. The hyper lurker is often emotionally invested in situations they refuse to engage with publicly, living vicariously through other people's drama with an intensity that borders on a second job.

A person who reads/watches in an online community without participating. Heavy on streams, forums, Discord servers. Mostly neutral; sometimes pejorative.
