A moment of communal assessment where players or fans pause to ask whether something has been or should be nerfed — often triggered by a character, mechanic, or item starting to dominate so hard that the discourse becomes unavoidable. A nerf check can be demanded by frustrated opponents ('this needs a nerf check immediately') or issued as a patch preview by developers signaling incoming balance adjustments. It's the gaming community's version of calling something into question.

A call-out or self-assessment determining whether someone is playing intentionally badly in a game — deliberately dying, feeding kills, or throwing objectives on purpose. Dropping an int check on a teammate is equal parts accusation and interrogation: are you actually this bad or is something deliberate happening here? The check invites either a confession, a defensive explanation, or a meltdown in chat. A staple of competitive gaming communication, it has migrated into everyday discourse to question whether someone's terrible decision-making is wilful or just genuinely catastrophic.

The act of verifying or confirming who someone's main is — their top-used character in a game, their primary romantic interest, or their #1 stan target — usually to validate, challenge, or clown them about it. In gaming, a main check exposes whether you're truly committed or just cosplaying as a fan. In fandom spaces, it's a quick loyalty verification: who do you actually ride for? The main check is often playful but can get serious when people's claims don't match the receipts.

A moment of self-assessment or external evaluation to confirm whether someone is living up to the iconic, unbothered, serving-at-all-times standard that "mother" demands. A mother check asks: are you actually delivering? Is the look locked? Is the energy correct? Are you conducting yourself with the authority and effortless excellence that the title implies? It can be a genuine self-audit before a big moment or a playful challenge thrown at someone whose performance has slipped below their stated standards.

A moment of honest self-audit where someone examines whether their manifestation practice is actually aligned with their intentions — checking if they've been consistent, specific, and emotionally committed enough to make the universe supposedly deliver. Manifest check is also used socially as a gentle or ironic prompt to ask a friend whether they've been keeping up with their manifestation rituals. It lives in the overlap of Gen Z wellness culture and self-aware irony, equal parts earnest accountability tool and good-natured mockery of the whole enterprise.
