Peak DPS is the number you're always chasing but rarely hit: simulation software calculates it, logs reveal how close you got, and the gap between your actual and your peak DPS is essentially a performance report. In broader use it describes anyone operating at the absolute ceiling of their capability — the best version of their output on the best possible day, everything going right, zero waste.
According to the sim my peak DPS is around 85k but in the actual fight I'm hitting maybe 72 — still some room to grow.
