A Discord feature/bot pattern where members self-assign roles by reacting to a message with an emoji. A bot watches the message and adds/removes the matching role. Used for opt-in pings (e.g., game-specific notification roles), color roles, pronoun roles, age/region tags. The most common bot for this is Carl-bot or YAGPDB.
