The state of fully embracing being a scrub — zero motivation, minimum effort, maximum comfort, and zero apologies about any of it. Scrub mode is when you have decided that productivity is a scam, the dishes can wait, and the sweatpants stay on indefinitely. It is not depression; it is a deliberate choice to operate at the lowest acceptable tier of human function while remaining basically fine. Some people enter scrub mode for a weekend and bounce back. Others have been in scrub mode since a breakup in 2019 and are starting to think it might be a permanent lifestyle. Either way, you are fed and horizontal.
I went full scrub mode this weekend — did not leave the couch, ordered delivery twice, and watched six hours of reality TV.
