tubes
Tubes is internet slang for the internet itself, used mostly humorously and often referencing the infamous 2006 US Senate speech where Ted Stevens described the internet as 'a series of tubes.' That speech became an instant meme and the phrase stuck as a playful, self-aware way to refer to the web.

Definitions
Tubes is internet slang for the internet itself, used mostly humorously and often referencing the infamous 2006 US Senate speech where Ted Stevens described the internet as 'a series of tubes.' That speech became an instant meme and the phrase stuck as a playful, self-aware way to refer to the web. Separately, 'the tubes' can refer to the internal workings of the body — your digestive system, respiratory tract, or other internal passages. Context makes it clear which tubes you mean.
I've been down the tubes all afternoon watching old documentary clips.
