An unspoken nerf is a weakening that happens without any official acknowledgment — a stealth patch, a shadow change, or a quiet social shift that makes something less effective than it used to be without anyone explicitly saying so. In games, it's when your character's kill rate quietly plummets without patch notes to explain it. In real life, it's the subtle ways a relationship, a job, or a friendship gets downgraded without a formal conversation. The 'unspoken' qualifier adds a layer of gaslighting paranoia: you notice the change, you feel the loss, but there's no documentation to point to, which makes the whole thing more frustrating.
That has to be an unspoken nerf — my win rate dropped 15% and the patch notes say nothing.
