When a deliberate attempt to provoke outrage, engagement, or drama completely misses its mark — nobody bites, the post flops, or people respond with indifference instead of the heated reaction that was expected. A bait fail is deeply embarrassing in online spaces because it reveals the intent without the payoff. You can't play it cool when you clearly posted something designed to go off and instead got twelve likes and a tumbleweed.

When someone's attempt to make a bold move or decisive gesture goes spectacularly wrong in a way that's more embarrassing than inaction would have been. An action fail is the cautionary tale version of being action coded: the grand gesture that misfires, the confident decision that backfires immediately, the 'I'll just handle it' energy that ends in chaos. Action fails circulate as content precisely because they validate the overthinkers — sometimes the people who pause and plan were right to pause and plan.

An aggy fail is often more embarrassing than a regular fail because the whole point was to project strength — and instead you just publicly lost.
