The relaxed, unguarded state a person enters when they are at home and fully comfortable — not performing for anyone, fully decompressed, doing whatever they actually want. Gaff mode is the domestic counterpart to going out mode: no curated outfit, no social filter, questionable snack choices, and possibly pyjamas at 3pm. In a group context it can also describe the collective vibe when everyone settles into someone's place after a night out and the real, unguarded conversations begin. It's peak authenticity because nobody is trying to be anything.
