Hyper distillation is when the refinement process goes so far it starts becoming its own problem — cutting, filtering, and purifying to such an obsessive degree that the result is sterile, unapproachable, or completely disconnected from human messiness. Where regular distillation is admirable, hyper distillation is the version that's gone too far: the person who has edited themselves into a brand with no warmth, the artist whose work is so minimal it communicates nothing, the productivity obsessive who has optimised all spontaneity out of their life.
