parasocial coded

Stan coded describes a person, account, vibe, or behavior that radiates pure unfiltered fandom energy — even if they never explicitly call themselves a stan. The overcurated feed, the deep knowledge of an artist's discography down to the B-sides, the borderline-parasocial way they talk about a celebrity like a close friend — it all reads as stan coded. It's not always an insult; sometimes it's a warm recognition. You know a stan coded person the second they open their mouth about their fave.

Describing something — a person, video, image, or account — that gives off such a hyper-polished, too-perfect, or uncanny vibe that it registers as potentially AI-generated or synthetically constructed even if it isn't. Deepfake coded is the aesthetic read, not the technical verdict. A celebrity's interview that feels scripted to the bone, an influencer whose skin texture never changes, or a marketing video with zero human awkwardness can all be deepfake coded.

Catfish coded describes a profile, person, or situation that hits all the warning signs of a fake identity — not necessarily proven to be fake, but carrying the unmistakable vibe. Hallmarks include: only one or two photos, suspiciously attractive stock-photo energy, no tagged posts, a brand-new account, and responses that feel slightly off or scripted. Using 'coded' frames it as an aesthetic or behavioral signature rather than an accusation, giving the caller plausible deniability. It's a diagnostic shorthand for the pattern-recognition that experienced internet users develop.

Describes a person, comment, or post that radiates unmistakable energy of someone deep in uncritical admiration — the phrasing, the defensiveness, the complete absence of critical thought. You can spot glazed coded behavior from a distance. It does not announce itself. It just cannot stop talking about one person in exclusively glowing terms.

Something cringe coded radiates social discomfort from its very DNA — you don't need to experience it fully to know it will be uncomfortable. A certain genre of corporate-speak is cringe coded. The guy who brings an acoustic guitar to a party uninvited is cringe coded. Those motivational Instagram captions with three exclamation points are cringe coded. The '-coded' suffix means it doesn't just exhibit cringe behavior — it is structurally, fundamentally, constitutionally embarrassing, and no amount of self-awareness can save it. Cringe coded things often don't know they are, which is precisely what makes them so.
